Energy Switch Guarantee announces Pamela Taylor as new chair

Energy UK announced today the appointment of Pamela Taylor as the new independent chair of the Energy Switch Guarantee, a voluntary industry initiative – launched in 2016 – to ensure switching is simple, speedy and safe for customers. 

The Guarantee now covers over 90% of the market and nine in ten customers are happy with the switching process according to the latest research from the Guarantee.

Audrey Gallacher, Director of Policy at Energy UK, said:

“Pamela will bring a wealth of experience to the role as we continue to strengthen the Energy Switch Guarantee and ensure that consumers feel ever more confident in switching. I would like to thank our outgoing Chair, Tina Tietjen for the integral role she played in the development and launch of the Guarantee. During her time as Chair the number of signatories has increased significantly along with the coverage of the Guarantee.”

Pamela Taylor, Independent Chair of the Energy Switch Guarantee, said:

‘I am delighted to be appointed Chair of the Energy Switch Guarantee Board. It is a fantastic initiative aimed at driving up standards in the industry and providing consumers with the confidence to switch. I am looking forward to working with energy suppliers to build the guarantee into the trust mark that consumers seek out when switching supplier.’

  • Pamela Taylor has 15 years’ experience in the energy sector. She has held various roles in Ofgem including her most recent ones as partner responsible for Ofgem’s engagement with innovation and partner of enforcement, responsible for Ofgem’s investigations into non-compliance with legal obligations. Previously, she has led Ofgem’s work into the arrangements in the wholesale gas and electricity markets and been responsible for Ofgem’s European strategy. Between 2013- 2016, Pamela was an economic consultant working primarily on competition investigations and regulatory projects in the energy sector.
